Crystal had an extraordinary experience at Cranfield University’s open day, working on a hydrogen electrolysis generator and connecting components of an AC mini grid. They also explored the HyWaves solar-to-hydrogen pilot project, which uses solar energy to produce hydrogen, a sustainable fuel that can reduce carbon emissions. The visit was inspiring, highlighting innovative and environmentally friendly technologies along side our partners BYD batteries/energy, EFT Systems, Plug-N-Go & Lotus.

The hydrogen electrolysis generator, a pivotal piece of technology, showcases how water can be split into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity, ideally sourced from renewable energies such as wind or solar. This process is crucial in producing green hydrogen, a vital component in the fight against climate change. The HyWaves project exemplifies how solar power can be harnessed effectively to generate hydrogen, offering a glimpse into a future where renewable resources play a pivotal role in energy production.

During the open day, Crystal was particularly impressed by the dedication of the researchers and scientists who are at the forefront of these technological advancements. Their commitment to creating a sustainable future was evident, as they explained the potential impact of these initiatives on reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and mitigating the effects of climate change. This experience not only broadened Crystal’s understanding of cutting-edge technologies but also inspired a deeper appreciation for the innovative efforts being made in the field of renewable energy.
